 What is Comcast's Digital Migration?

Comcast is upgrading its Expanded Basic Cable channel lineup from analog- to digital-quality signals. Moving analog signals to digital will allow Comcast to add hundreds of new high-definition (HD) channels, much faster Internet access speeds and smarter phone service.

This page previously had a lot of material we used to provide information for the news media and other people, but there's now a national site: Visit the Main Comcast site about the digital migration. You'll find information ranging from the benefits of the migration to what to do about TiVOs, VCRs, etc...

Customers can call 1-877-634-4434 for more information.

The Washington Schedule

If you have not received word of the migration in your area, that’s because Comcast is performing the work in phases throughout 2009.

The channels are being moved in two waves. The list below shows general areas and a tentative time for the first channel migrations.

Late September and early October: Aberdeen (Grays Harbor County), city of Tacoma, Lakewood, Redmond, Kirkland and Woodinville

Later October and early November: Seattle

Mid-November and early December: Bellingham and Whatcom County, Whidbey Island, Bremerton and Kitsap County and Gig Harbor

If you are in one of these communities and have not received word yet, you are welcome to call the number above but you can just as easily wait until you begin receiving mailings from Comcast.
